Dock 6 Pottery: The Riverview Theater’s New Neighbors

Future home of Dock 6

Renovation work begins on the space behind Riverview Theater.

A few weeks ago (pre-snow), renovation work began in the space behind the Riverview Theater on 42nd Avenue. The space has sat unused for a number of years after the building’s owners closed their restaurant. The former restaurant space will be the new home to Dock 6 Pottery, which plans to move in the beginning of the new year.

Dock 6 Pottery is currently located across the street from Turtle Bread at 4206 E. 34th Street. It specializes in wheel-thrown, high-fired stoneware and is primarily run by potter Kerry Brooks. Her work incorporates glass and many of her pieces have vibrant colors that seem to glow.

According to its website, Dock 6 started in 1995 as a collective of 4 pottery artists. It is now primarily Brooks’ studio and gallery, who occasionally has others working with her.

  1. What great news! That old storefront has been an eyesore and a missed opportunity for at least twenty years. It’s thrilling to hear that it’s coming back to life. Welcome to our corner of the neighborhood, Dock 6!

Rebekah do some comments get taken down? I was looking for the commented about ventilation and dust at their former location, but I don’t see it?
