April 12th – 14th – Weekend Events

There’s so much more happening around town than what’s listed here. To get all of the details, check our complete events calendar.

  • Stick your nose in a book and get transported to a non-snowy place. The East Lake Library hosts a family storytime and baby storytime in the morning. In the afternoon, the Kids Book Club, for second through fifth graders, gets together to talk books.
  • Guitarist and songwriter Ian Thomas Alexy starts the night at Harriet Brewing’s Tap Room, and is followed up by the eclectic blend of the Tommy Bentz Band.
  • Minnehaha Academy students take to the stage to perform Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

  • Calling all makers! The Hack Factory is opening its doors for the fourth-annual Minne-Fair. Get inspired with exhibits, demos, and meeting other DIY artists.
  • If you’re planning a house project, you’ll want to stop by the South Minneapolis Housing Fair. Check out exhibitors and vendors, and get answers to all of your housing-related questions.
  • If you’ve been wanting to try out a CSA subscription, you don’t want to miss out on the CSA Fair happening at the Seward Co-op. Meet the farmers and learn about different CSAs available in our area.
  • In the same vein, be sure to head over to the Neighborhood Sustainability Fair. You can bring electronics to recycle, get your bike tuned up, and participate in a clothing swap and seed exchange.
  • Take a tour of our newest park, Coldwater Spring. The well-timed topic of the walk is Life in a Season of Change. You’ll learn how animals get through the last bit of winter and start to prepare for spring.
  • Catch the classic rock-and-roll band Back Alley at Whiskey Junction.

  • Folk singer and guitarist Shaun Daniel will be performing at Merlins Rest.
  • For Roots, rock, and blues try out the Crooked Saws. They’re doing an in-store performance at Hymie’s and will be giving away a few copies of their latest album Mo’Fi.
  • Give your brain a kick start with quiz night at Merlins Rest.

Coming Up This Week
